Australian Second World War veteran Doctor Lucian Blake returns home to Ballarat after 30 years to take over the local medical practice.
The show is set in Ballarat, a gold-mining town famous for its fading Victorian facade, and it still has a whiff of the Wild West — but this is post-war Oz. Teddy boys and teenage rebels are lounging in the street outside the saloons, spoiling for a fight.
