Mystery Thriller Horror

A woman is strangled in the bath by a black-gloved killer who disposes of her body in a large trunk. The trunk is delivered to St. Hilda College, an exclusive finishing school. Betty-Anne, one of the female students, is strangled in the school cellar. The police, led by Inspector Durand, are called in to investigate. Suspects include La Floret, the voyeuristic gardener; Di Brazzi, the new swimming instructor; Mrs. Clay, the summer school French mistress; an old professor who collects birds; and a philandering young teacher called Richard. The murders continue but Jill, a keen amateur detective, helps the police identify the unlikely killer...

Note : It's been a while since we've done some giallo, so let's get back to that, with this little number which, despite the title, is more tease than sleaze, sadly. Still, it has a few fun twists and performances, a kind of bonkers reveal at the end (which became a trope later, but still wasn't a cliché back when this was made), and some ridiculous schoolgirl outfits, so there's that. Cast is quite good, including Mark Damon, Eleonora Brown, Sally Smith, Patrizia Valturri, Ludmila Lvova, and Luciano Pigozzi, who you might remember as the Peter Lorre lookalike from Blood and Black Lace.

A woman is murdered in the bath and the body is placed in a trunk that's shipped off to St. Hilda's, a private girls' school, which currently only houses seven students, since the rest are on vacation. The teachers include Mrs. Clay, a science teacher, young teacher Richard, who's having an affair with one of the students, and pervert gardener La Foret, played by Pigozzi. I guess if you have Peter Lorre's face, you're kind of bound to be typecast. As the students begin dying mysteriously, the police investigate, the gardener pervs on showering students, Jill, a students who's obsessed with crime novels, has her own wild theories, and things get a little out of hand.

A pretty nice 4k remaster here, nice contrast, fine grain, decent detail, maybe slightly undersaturated colors, but all in all not much to complain about. ORiginal mono track sounds quite good, and the commentary track is worthwhile too.
