Deathstalker

Action Fantasy

The warrior Deathstalker is tasked by an old witch lady to obtain and unite the three powers of creation - a chalice, an amulet, and a sword - lest the evil magician Munkar get them and use them for nefarious purposes. After obtaining the sword, Deathstalker joins with other travelers going to the Big Tournament to determine the strongest warrior. The false king holds the true princess in captivity, and plots to have Deathstalker killed, and Deathstalker must fight to free the princess.

Note : I wanted to pay tribute to Roger Corman, who sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't have any of his more important films on hand, so this will have to do, the first of several he produced in Argentina. Corman developed a bit of a rape fixation in the 80s, so apart from the copious nudity (almost all female characters are introduced semi-nude, and there's topless sword fighting, topless mud wrestling, and so on, this gets very rapey, with even the ostensible hero almost getting in on the rape action before figuring out the woman is actually a man (long story). So that's not great, and neither is the film, which feels pretty cheap, with the typical lack of wide shots, aggressive cutting to hide things, and flat performances. On the upside, there's a ridiculously evil queer-coded bad guy, a literal pig man (all the men in this film are pigs, but this guy has a pig's head on a human body), and the cinematography is at times quite nice, if a bit murky in the darker scenes. And, of course, if you like boobs, this is the boobiest barbarian film I know. Cast includes Rick Hill as a our constantly smirking, rapey hero, Barbi Benton as a princess who almost gets raped, Richard Brooker as a charming warrior with an agenda, Lana Clarkson, who twenty years later was murdered by famous music producer Phil Spector, as a warrior who fights with her tits out, Bernard Erhard as a mugging evil wizard with a clearly painted on head tattoo, and miscellaneous Argentinians, including Víctor Bó, Augusto Larreta, and Verónica Llinás.

Deathstalker has to take a break from stalking death and having sex with semi-willing women when a witch sends him on a quest to retrieve a chalice, an amulet, and a sword. He finds the sword almost immediately, but the real sword was the friend he found along the way, the thief Salmaron, who accompanies him on his quest. The other two items, however, are in the possession of Munkar, an evil sorcerer, and so won't be so easy to get. They team up with Oghris, a warrior, and Kaira, a topless female warrior who's also Deathstalker's fleshlight for the evening, and Oghris tells Deathstalker of a tournament organized by Munkar, the winner of which will inherit Munkar's kingdom. At the tournament, drunk warriors rape a lot of harem girls, and then a pig man is going to rape princess Codille, but a fight breaks out, and our heroes rescue the princess for about five minutes before Munkar takes her back. It turns out the tournament is a ruse for all of Munkar's enemies to fight to the death, so he can kill the presumably weakened last man standing, and so eliminate all threats to his rule. After a bit of gender transition magic, a bit of near-rape, and a topless sword fight that ends with the death of Kaira, the tournament begins, but Deathstalker must face enemies both known and unknown, and there's no telling who he can trust.

This is quite a decent remaster, with good color and contrast and well controlled grain, although it's often a bit soft, and the darker scenes a bit murky, but I think that's just how this film looks. Sound is similarly decent, the commentary track is amusing and entertaining enough, and the Jaboody track is pretty funny, and has a lot of incredulous noises over just how much rape there is in the film.

HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords. Try searching for “hevk swordandsorcery” for more bladed weapons, magic, and often barbarians, “hevk fantasy” for more fantasies, although usually not Roger Corman's sexual ones, or “hevk 80s” for more from the decade when period films and bad breast implants absolutely did mix.
