Note : Here's something of an odd duck, a British 70s horror anthology film that's not an Amicus production, although it's often mistaken for one, directed as it is by Freddie Francis. Still, it fits the format, and it's pretty good, with four stories of madness, murder, and ironic comeuppance, linked by a framing story in a mental hospital, and an all-star cast including Jack Hawkins, Donald Pleasence, Georgia Brown, Donald Houston, Suzy Kendall, Peter McEnery, Beth Morris, Frank Forsyth, Joan Collins, Michael Jayston, Kim Novak, and Mary Tamm.

Psychiatrist Dr. Tremayne tells his colleague Dr. Nicholas that he's solved four peculiar cases, and then recounts the case histories. In "Mr Tiger", a young boy's imaginary tiger friend becomes more than a fantasy to the boy's constantly fighting parents. In Penny Farthing, an inherited old bicycle allows a man to time-travel to the past as long as he's pedalling it, with dangerous consequences both for him and his girlfriend. In Mel, a man takes a liking to a vaguely woman-shaped dead tree with a pussy for a face, to the consternation of his wife. And, in Luau, a literary agent courting a new client might have to make some radical sacrifices to succeed, offering a pound of flesh. In the end, Dr. Tremayne seems to be sharing some of the delusions of his clients, which leads his colleague to take drastic steps, but it turns out Tremayne might not have been wrong after all.

A fairly decent transfer from Wicked-Vision here, although it's 16:9 full frame, but it's fine in all other aspects, both image and sound are decent, and it's quite watchable.

HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords. Try searching for “hevk anthology” for more films with multiple shorter stories, “hevk british” for more from the country of ironic winking horror, or “hevk 70s” for more from the decade when Donald Pleasance cornered the market on playing psychiatrists.
